In the first encounter we beat Panadura RFC by 19/7. The second match was a walk over from Puffins RC. Third Match we lost to Old Kannangara RFC 7/12. Since, we won only one match, we have to meet the Old Wesley from the Group F in the Development Squad Plate Finals which was won by the latter 14/29. Finally, we had to settle with the Plate Runners up Trophy.
We should mention that our Coach, Mr Amjad Buksh who took up the challenge to build up a team in just one week with the blessings of our President, Mr. Ibnusha Ally and his Executive Council Members, the club was able to achieve the impossible at our first ever 7’s tournament. This was a great achievement indeed.
Our special thanks goes to the indefatigable Coach, Mr. Amjad Buksh for his vision and mission in performing the team at their very best with very short notice and limited resources. Our appreciation to Senior DIG, Mr Ruwaiz Latiff, Vice President for allowing us to practice at the Police Park prior to the tournament and a Big Thank you, for our Club members and President of SLMA, Mr Taslim Rahaman for cheering the team throughout which was a great boost to our team’s performances.
Finally, we wish to inform our members that we will be participating in the Division C in the forthcoming Club rugby tournament in November 2018. We would also request those who are interested in joining the team to do so at your earliest and practices have already commenced. We look forward for your support at all times.
